The Benefits of Rain Barrels

This record heat makes me think about how refreshing it would be to have a short, cool rain!  Rain conservation is a concern for many areas and using rain is a good first step. Rain water captured in a rain barrel reduces the amount used from a municipal source, therefore also reducing your water bill. Rain barrels also catch water that would otherwise run off into creeks and storm systems. Rainwater is good for houseplants, flowers and gardens because it is free from the chemical additives in tap water.

A great resource for rain barrels in Middle Tennessee is the Cumberland River Compact
